What is Business Coaching?

All too often we as coaches are posed with a blank expression or the question of what does a coach do?

As a professional business coach, we use this expression to ensure that you can hear that we are:

1. Professional i.e. abide by a professional code of ethics and standard of conduct along with applying professional development through ongoing education.

2. Business. We are in the business of business. We specialize in coaching business’s and helping them achieve their potential through business development.

3. We are Coach’s. As a coach we cover a range of skills which assist in maximizing your potential.

They include:

Goal setting – Application of Strategies and relevant action steps to achieve these goals.

A professional coach is the combination of four areas including: Mentoring, Management, Personal Training and Sports Coaching.

Coaching is a synthesis of elements from:

Mentor

– To really believe in you

– To help you set big goals for yourself through vision

Manager

– To help you set strategies to work

– To assist in setting deadlines

– To keep you accountable

Personal Trainer

– To help you work out how to attack the big goals

– To maintain momentum

Sports Coach

– To see things to improve your game that you can’t see

– To challenge your perspective or thinking

– To provide objective perspective for altering performance

We as coach’s are often covering a broad range of abilities, however we choose to specialize in one area. For me this is Business Coaching and soon Executive Coaching as well.

These are the realization of the goals and relevant strategies and actions for myself as well.

Even as coach’s we need coaching to achieve our maximum potential.

Remember, If it’s going to be, it’s up to me! But why not get some positive assistance on the way?

Confused? Can’t understand where that leader went?

The shell is there but the soul has moved on!

Ever respected someone in a position of leadership and then whilst you are watching their soul doesn’t meet up with the “mask” of leadership anymore. Leaders are susceptible to incredible scrutiny from everyone around them. It is a slow effect and often goes unnoticed by the majority as they don’t see the subtle changes happening every week. Slow changes to organizations are easy to miss when you are a part of the organization or so close that you are in it every day. All too often, unless you stand away and look closely you don’t even see it happening.

What am I talking about?

The moment (or moments) when it becomes evident that the leaders purpose and mission has changed from servant leadership to protecting their little empire. Ego and pride get in the way and their focus evidently changes to telling people how good they are.

Boastful leaders are not leaders!

Leaders who avoid being accountable to others tend to succumb to pride, the archenemy of spirituality.

Spiritual leaders know that the criticism of a supporter is more valuable than flattery of an opponent: “Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses”

Proverbs 27:6

Who is apt to tell you when you’re “too big for your shoes”? If someone were to do this, what would your response be?

Would you punish or alienate him or her?

Be careful out there as a Leader. The world watches you.
